Garden re-designs 2018

Apart from renovating the Eco-classic cottages we do a lot of work in the garden so guests can enjoy their stay even more.

500 vulcanic stones (each about 20kg), 30 black stones, a huge white Granite as bench, a truck load of sand and a truck load of gravel, 20 bags of cement and many other items for the 3 bath rooms had to be carried 200 meters to its destination. This was about 1000 trips with the weight on their heads....the local way to carry things, even fridges i saw.
Anyway, the real problem for a foreigner is to find the people which do the work. Still 3 month to go to finalize all the projects wee have in mind. Sure the breakfast place and chill out will be bigger, a new chill out is created right now with sun chairs, a small waterfall where you can stand under, a nicer manicured garden, renovation of bath rooms in the Eco classic cottages, maybe a small rain proof breakfast place too. Most of the shooping is done lately in Hubli, Goa, years ago much came from Delhi, last year a 7,5 ton truck from Gokarna to Bangalore and back full of items for the farm. Since we do not have to bring any cloth back to India from Germany and Spain we do have our luggage always filled with nice and handy items.

International Yoga Day Quotes 2018

International Yoga Day 2018 is being celebrated across the World on 21st June 2018, irrespective of religion, culture or geographical boundaries. Officially adopted by UN on 11 December 2014, this day recognizes the role of Yoga in shaping human lives.

A few quotes:
  • “When I stretch, I stretch in such a way that my awareness moves, and a gate of awareness finally opens”, – Late B. K. S. Iyengar
  • “Yoga is a science, and not a vague dreamy drifting or imagining. Wishing you a very Happy Yoga Day”.
  • “The Self in you is the same as the Self Universal. My Best wishes for World Yoga Day”.
  • Yoga exists in the world because everything is linked. On this World Yoga Day, link yourself to the soul
  • A photographer gets people to pose for him. A yoga instructor gets people to pose for themselves. Wishing you a very Happy Yoga Day
  • A person is said to have achieved yoga, the union with Self, when the perfectly disciplined mind gets freedom from all desires, and becomes absorbed in the Self alone.
  • I am losing balance is a pose, I stretch higher and God reaches down to steady me. It works every time and not just in yoga. Use this Yoga Day opportunity to reach to God.

World Environment Day 2018

World Environment Day 2018

In order to raise awareness about protecting the environment, every year June 5 is celebrated as World Environment Day.

Most guesthouse owners and their stuff come together on the 5th of June every year to clean up the roadside from Om beach to Gokarna entrance. This year we collected 5 truck loads of waste and garbage. In the future we like to work more closely together with the Panchayat   (head of town) and start banning plastic bags and other plastic items. A fine for littering in town and the beaches would be another project.

Environment might be one of the the most important treasures we have, but human beings do end up treating it recklessly. In order to raise awareness about protecting it, every year June 5 is celebrated as World Environment Day as has been designated by the United Nations (UN). The day also enables one to be more responsible in the way they conduct themselves and treat the environment.

India is the global host this year and the theme is Beat Plastic Pollution. It started in 1974 and since then the day has provided a global platform for like-minded people to reach out to each other.

Chill out and cottages closed during monsoon time

Again as every year we close down for monsoon until beginning of October 2018

All cottages and tree houses are closed and the chill out is not suitable for rain, so all coushins and polsters are stored away. Toys for children, library, tables, chairs are also stored and protected from the harsh environment.

Eco Cottages vs Deluxe Ocean View Rooms

Written by Oliver Miguel Thursday, 04 January 2018

Eco Cottages vs Deluxe Ocean View Rooms

Eco Cottages or Deluxe Ocean View room with more comfort for the next years to come. Wifi/Wlan available in all accommodations with 30Mbp from fiber optic cable.

Listening and respecting our guests concerns and reading the reviews we have decided to buy softer and thicker mattresses and install hot water in all rooms. The Eco cottages stay as they are, build with volcanic stone, clay tiles as roofing, coco nut fiber mattresses, cool water from the well, part solar powered and the waste water goes back to the plants. All rooms get a A/O Smith 15 liter water heater.

Eco-tourism is more than a catch phrase for nature loving travel and recreation. Eco-tourism is consecrated for preserving and sustaining the diversity of the world’s natural and cultural environments. This accommodates and entertains visitors in a way that is minimally intrusive or destructive to the environment and sustains & supports the native cultures in the locations it is operating in. This is the reason Namaste Yoga Farm Gokarna uses thick vulcanic, laterite stones for the walls and the roof is made from terracotta tiles on coconut wood rafters. The mattresses made from coco nut fibre will be double thick then in previous years with the new size of the first layer 5cm coconut fibre and 5cm hard foam plus a second layer of the same. The water comes from our own well and most waste water goes back to the plants. A new solar systen will be installed in case of power cuts rather then using the 83kw generators we use for the other buildings. Only our cottages will be marketed as Eco Lodges. Read more »
