What to expect
Over the course of five classes you will go through the body to find out which areas have less mobility.
You'll learn how to improve flexibility in those areas or adapt poses so that you can still practice them.
We start with the hips and hamstrings, moving onto the shoulders and upper body and then the spine.
Oliver will also show you how to work on core strength to keep the body stable and supported.
The Eight Limbs of Yoga
The Eight Limbs of Yoga is, for many, a baffling topic. Our aim in this eight week program is to help you achieve a good grasp of each limb through informative talks, yoga, Pranayama and meditation. Go deeper and truly enrich your yoga practice and hopefully, your life.
What can we learn from the Eight Limbs?
According to Patanjali, yoga is "yoga chitta vritti nirodha" - learning to restrain the fluctuations (Vrittis) of the mind - that is, all the repetitive,
whirling thoughts, desires, analysis and judgments. The Eight Limbs of Yoga help us control these Vrittis, giving us tools on how to deal with others and ourselves.
They also describe our practice in its many aspects, from the external to the most internal, offering guidance on how to live a purposeful and meaningful life.
Deepen your practice with the 8 limbs....
What to expect?
Each week we'll shed light on one of the Eight Limbs, beginning with an enlightening talk on the 'limb of the week' from one of our exceptional teachers.
You can also expect a weekly mix of around 4 or 5 yoga, meditation or Pranayama classes to help you comprehend and explore each limb on a practical level.
There will also be plenty of recommended reading material for those who'd like to dive even deeper.
Who is it for?
This exploration into the deeper layers of yoga is suitable for those who are familiar with yoga.
The classes vary in level so in theory anyone can join in. If you're a complete beginner, we suggest you start with one of our beginner programs.
