About Namaste Yoga Farm

What is Namaste Yoga Farm?

Namaste Yoga Farm is a small, peaceful holiday accommodation and seasonal yoga retreat in Gokarna, Karnataka, India, approximately a three-minute walk from Kudle Beach. It has fifteen units — seven cottages, six rooms and two treehouses — set in a tropical garden, and has welcomed guests since 2007.

Do I have to be interested in yoga to stay?

No. A guest does not need to be interested in yoga to stay at Namaste Yoga Farm. Many guests come simply for a quiet holiday near the beach. During the yoga season the complimentary classes are an extra that comes with the room, never an obligation.

Who runs the property?

Oliver, originally from Germany, and Luisa, originally from Spain. They have lived in India for around two decades and built the place themselves, starting with the first cottage in 2007.

What makes Namaste Yoga Farm different from a hotel?

We're not a hotel in the conventional sense. This is a quiet, yoga-focused retreat where the pace is slow, the atmosphere is personal, and the emphasis is on rest, practice, and simplicity. Luisa and Oliver are here every day from October to April — it's our home too.

What is it like to stay outside the yoga season?

From April to October Gokarna is quieter, greener and generally less expensive, and there are no scheduled yoga classes.

April and May are hot and dry. June to September is the monsoon, when the hills become intensely green, there are long periods of rain and the sea can be too rough for swimming. October is quieter and green after the monsoon, with the main tourist season still ahead.

The plunge pool is open from October to March. The juice bar is open from December to March. Rooms and cottages include breakfast, with rates starting from approximately €40 per night during the quieter months.

Our 300 Mbps fibre connection operates year-round with generator backup, making the quieter months suitable for longer stays and remote work.

Is the property safe?

Very. We've had 24/7 on-site security for 18 years and have never had a single security incident.

What languages do you speak?

English, German, Spanish, Italian, Hindi, and Kannada.

Location and getting here

Where is Namaste Yoga Farm located?

Namaste Yoga Farm is in Gokarna, Karnataka, on India's tropical southwestern coast. The property is set in lush greenery, just a three-minute walk from Kudle Beach. Nearby beaches — Paradise Beach, Half Moon Beach, Om Beach, and Gokarna Beach — are all reachable on foot.

Which airport is nearest?

Goa has two airports: Dabolim (GOI), about three hours away by road, and Mopa (GOX), about five hours. Please tell us which one you are using when you book.

Can you arrange an airport transfer?

Yes. Our regular driver meets guests outside the terminal with a Namaste Yoga Farm sign and waits even if the flight is delayed. The transfer is paid to Oliver at the property on arrival, not to the driver.

Is there parking?

Yes, approximately 200 metres from the property. Our staff will help you with luggage from there.

What are the check-in and check-out times?

Check-in is from 2:00 PM, check-out by 11:00 AM. Early arrivals are welcome from 8:00 AM — we'll store your luggage, and you're free to freshen up, visit the beach, or explore the town while your room is prepared. After check-out, we can hold your bags until 5:00 PM.

Accommodation

What types of accommodation are there?

Seven cottages (Holiday, Romantic, Classic and Family), six garden and hill view rooms, and two treehouses. All are set in the same garden and all include breakfast. The cottages and rooms have their own bathrooms; the two treehouses share a bathroom.

Is there air conditioning?

No. There is no air conditioning anywhere on the property — this is a deliberate choice to keep our environmental footprint low. Every unit has a ceiling fan, and the thick laterite stone walls, garden shade and sea breeze keep rooms comfortable. March is warm but still pleasant; the genuinely hot weather begins after March.

Are there mosquito nets?

The windows have mosquito screening rather than nets over the beds, which most guests find more comfortable.

Is Wi-Fi reliable?

Yes. We have a 300 Mbps fibre optic connection with unlimited data, backed by our generator so it stays running even during power cuts. Many of our longer-stay guests work remotely from here without issues.

Is Namaste Yoga Farm suitable for long stays?

Many of our guests stay for several weeks, and quite a few return year after year. The combination of daily yoga, reliable internet, proximity to the beach, and a genuinely peaceful atmosphere makes it well suited for extended stays.

How much does it cost?

Rates vary considerably by season and by unit. Please see the accommodation pages or send us a booking request with your dates and we will send you current rates.

What's included in the room rate?

Every stay includes breakfast for two, high-speed fibre Wi-Fi (up to 300 Mbps, with generator backup), drinking water, daily room cleaning, fresh towels, toiletries, and 24/7 electricity with silent backup generator. Rooms come with comfortable beds, pillows, an electric kettle, a fridge, and a private balcony or terrace.

During the yoga season, from 1 November to 31 March, your stay also includes complimentary daily yoga classes, access to the plunge pool, and our juice bar. From April to September — the hot months and then the monsoon — we offer rooms and cottages with breakfast at reduced rates — yoga, the pool, and the juice bar are closed during this period.

Yoga

Is yoga included in my stay?

Yes, from 1 November to 31 March. During those months we run complimentary classes twice daily on our open-air shala — mornings 8:00–9:30 and afternoons 16:00–17:30 — with mats and props provided. Please confirm yoga when you book, as space on the shala is limited.

Outside 1 November to 31 March there are no scheduled classes. You are very welcome to stay with us during those months, but yoga will not be part of the stay.

What styles of yoga do you teach?

Mainly Hatha and Sivananda. The morning class rotates between the two; the afternoon class is usually Hatha or Yin depending on the teacher. Occasionally there is a Yoga Nidra session in the early evening.

What time are the classes?

During the yoga season, normally 8:00 to 9:30 in the morning and 16:00 to 17:30 in the afternoon. Times can shift slightly when a yoga group is staying with its own teacher.

Do you offer yoga classes for beginners?

Absolutely. Our classes welcome all levels — our teachers adapt to each student's experience and physical condition. You'll never feel out of place, whether it's your first class or your thousandth.

Do I need to bring a mat?

No. Mats, blocks, belts and other props are provided in the shala.

Can non-guests join a class?

Yes, during the season, if there is space. The drop-in rate is 800 rupees per class, with a ten-class pass available at a ten per cent discount.

Can yoga groups or retreat leaders book the property?

Yes — we regularly host yoga groups with their own teachers. Our shala accommodates up to 20 participants with full equipment. Get in touch and we'll work out the details together.

Food, pool and facilities

Are meals included?

A generous breakfast is included daily — German brown bread, jams from Ladakh, freshly roasted Arabic coffee, homemade yoghurt and tofu, plus Indian breakfast options. Our juice bar at the plunge pool is open afternoons during the main season with fresh juices, light snacks, and Mediterranean dishes prepared by Luisa. We don't operate a full restaurant, but several cafés and restaurants are right on Kudle Beach, and more options in Gokarna town.

Is there a restaurant?

No, there is no full restaurant. From December to March, our small juice bar by the plunge pool serves juices, light snacks and a few simple dishes. There are cafés along Kudle Beach a few minutes away, and more choice in Gokarna town.

Is there a swimming pool?

There is a small plunge and sitting pool, open from October through March. It is a place to cool off and sit rather than a conventional large swimming pool, and we would rather set that expectation clearly.

Is the property quiet?

Yes — that is the point of it. There is no bar, no club and no party programme. Guests come for rest, reading, nature, walking and, in season, yoga.

Are there power cuts?

Common in the region, but you won't notice them here. Our silent 83 kW generator provides uninterrupted power around the clock — electricity, Wi-Fi, and hot water stay on at all times.

Booking, payment and children

How do I book?

Send us a booking request through the contact page with your dates and the type of accommodation you are interested in. We normally reply the same day.

Can I pay online?

Yes. We accept PayPal, IBAN transfers to a European bank account, and direct transfers to our corporate Karnataka Bank account in India. Many international credit cards don't work reliably in India, so we recommend PayPal or bank transfer.

How can I get the best rate?

Contact us directly through this website. Direct bookings allow us to offer better conditions and always include breakfast and twice-daily yoga — which may not be included when booking through third-party platforms.

Can I bring children?

We welcome families but the property is built around quiet. We generally recommend children be at least eight years old, and we cannot accommodate babies or toddlers. For children of roughly four to seven, we ask parents to judge honestly whether their child will be comfortable in a very quiet setting. If in doubt, please write to us and we will talk it through.
