Kudle Beach, Gokarna — and How to Find Namaste Yoga Farm

Namaste Yoga Farm is approximately a three-minute walk from Kudle Beach in Gokarna, Karnataka. The property is not on the sand itself: it sits just behind the beach in a quiet tropical garden on Kudle Beach Road, close enough to walk down for sunrise in bare feet, far enough back to sleep in silence.

Where Kudle Beach is

Kudle Beach is the first of Gokarna’s southern beaches, a wide C-shaped bay lying between Gokarna town beach to the north and Om Beach to the south. It is roughly three kilometres from Gokarna town by road, and a well-trodden footpath over the headland connects the two in about twenty to thirty minutes on foot. Beyond Om Beach the coast continues to Half Moon and Paradise beaches, which are reached on foot or by local boat.

Gokarna itself is a small temple town in the Uttara Kannada district of Karnataka, on India’s Konkan coast, about 150 kilometres south of Goa.

What Kudle Beach is like

Kudle is quieter and simpler than the beaches of nearby Goa. There are no large resorts, no clubs and no beach highway — just a curve of sand, low green hills, a handful of small cafés and shacks along the shore, cows, and a long shallow entry into the Arabian Sea that makes it easy to swim. In the high season, from November to March, there are enough travellers for the beach to feel alive without feeling crowded. In the monsoon months it is close to empty.

Because vehicles cannot drive onto the beach itself, the atmosphere stays slow. Most people walk everywhere.

Who the Kudle Beach area suits

  • Couples looking for a quiet, romantic stretch of coast rather than a resort strip.
  • Solo travellers, who find Kudle sociable but never overwhelming.
  • Long-stay travellers and digital nomads, who come for weeks or months at a time between November and March.
  • Nature lovers and bird watchers, thanks to the wooded hills behind the beach.
  • Yoga travellers, in the season from 1 November to 31 March.

It suits people looking for nightlife, shopping or a large hotel with a swimming pool considerably less well. We would rather say that clearly than disappoint you.

Eating near Kudle Beach

A row of simple cafés and shacks sits along the beach, a few minutes’ walk from us, serving Indian and traveller food through the season. Gokarna town has more choice again, including South Indian thali places near the temple.

At Namaste Yoga Farm itself we serve breakfast every morning — freshly roasted coffee, German brown bread, apricot jam from Ladakh, homemade tofu and yoghurt. Breakfast is served all year; outside the yoga season we serve toast bread instead of German brown bread. We do not have a full restaurant. From December to March, our small juice bar by the plunge pool serves juices, light snacks and a few simple dishes.

How to reach Namaste Yoga Farm

  • By air: Goa has two airports. Dabolim (GOI) is about three hours away by road; Mopa (GOX) about four hours. Tell us which one you are flying into and we can arrange a transfer with our regular driver, who meets guests outside the terminal with a Namaste Yoga Farm sign and waits if the flight is delayed. The transfer is paid to Oliver at the property, not to the driver.
  • By train: Gokarna Road station on the Konkan Railway line is the closest stop, a short taxi ride from the beaches. Ankola and Kumta are the next stations along the line.
  • By road: Gokarna is roughly 150 km south of Goa, 235 km from Mangalore and 450 km from Bengaluru.
  • Arriving at the property: parking is about 200 metres away and our staff will help with luggage. Check-in is from 14:00, check-out at 11:00, and the latest check-in is 21:00 — after that we send a short video showing where to find your key.

Best time of year to visit Gokarna

  • November to March — the main season. Dry, warm days, cool evenings, calm sea. This is also our yoga season, when yoga is complimentary for guests who book directly, subject to space and prior arrangement.
  • April and May — hot and humid, quiet beaches, low prices. Pleasant if you like heat and empty sand.
  • June to September — the monsoon. Dramatic, green and very wet. The property is at its most peaceful; there are no scheduled complimentary yoga classes at this time.
  • October — the rain eases and Gokarna slowly reopens.
