An authentic yoga retreat structures your entire day around consistent practice — typically twice daily — with the explicit purpose of deepening your yoga and allowing genuine inner change. A yoga holiday uses yoga as one element of a broader travel experience. Both are valid, but they're fundamentally different, and being clear about which one you want before booking saves a lot of disappointment.

At Namaste Yoga Farm, the schedule is the method. Morning class runs 8:00–9:30 AM — rotating between Hatha and Sivananda Yoga. Afternoon class runs 4:00–5:30 PM — usually Hatha or Yin. Between sessions: breakfast, rest, time to sit with what the practice surfaces. The rhythm, sustained over 7–14 days, is what produces real and lasting change. It's not dramatic or Instagram-worthy. It's quiet and cumulative.
The environment supports this. Gokarna is not designed for entertainment. There's no nightlife pulling you out of the retreat headspace, no shopping district, no crowd of tourists doing something more exciting two streets over. For people who've tried to retreat in busier places and found themselves constantly pulled away, this absence is a relief.
Families are welcome, with children of all ages. The atmosphere is quiet, which suits families looking for calm days rather than entertainment. Oliver and Luisa are happy to discuss individual situations.
On payment and practicalities: For direct bookings up to €1,000, full payment in advance confirms your room; above €1,000, a 50% deposit is possible, with the balance paid in cash on arrival. Credit cards often don't work reliably in India — Wise, PayPal, Revolut, or IBAN bank transfer are the recommended options. Parking is available 200 meters from the property, with staff helping with luggage.
FAQ
Do I have to follow the yoga schedule? At a genuine retreat, yes — the schedule is the method, and missing sessions significantly reduces what you get out of the experience. If you need flexibility, a yoga holiday format will suit you better. Be honest with yourself before booking.
What's the difference between booking direct and booking through Booking.com? For direct bookings, yoga is complimentary during the yoga season (1 November – 31 March), subject to space and prior arrangement, and whether breakfast is included depends on the offer we agree with you. On Booking.com, breakfast is only included in the breakfast rate and complimentary yoga only if we have confirmed it before you book; taxes only appear at the end of the booking process. If the direct booking process takes too long, you can book via Booking.com, but the direct rate is better value.
What should I eat during a yoga retreat? Namaste Yoga Farm serves a very good breakfast every day of the year. The juice bar on property is available separately. Traditional yoga practice pairs naturally with lighter vegetarian food — heavy meals before class are uncomfortable and counter-productive, and most guests find they eat less and feel noticeably better.
Is 7 days enough to feel a real difference? Yes. Within 5–7 days of daily practice, most guests notice meaningful change — improved flexibility, better sleep, mental clarity, and a settled calm that's hard to describe until you've experienced it. Most people who come for a week return for longer.
Good to know: From 1 November through 31 March, yoga is complimentary for guests who book directly – one class a day per guest, depending on space and prior arrangement. Booking through a platform? Please ask us first – complimentary yoga is only included if we have confirmed it before you book. Outside this period, Namaste Yoga Farm operates primarily as peaceful holiday accommodation without scheduled complimentary yoga classes. Guests do not need to practise yoga to stay.
