Yes — a yoga retreat in Gokarna is genuinely well-suited for beginners, particularly at a traditional retreat like Namaste Yoga Farm where class sizes are small, teaching is attentive, and the focus is on understanding the practice rather than performing it. Many guests arrive having never done yoga seriously before and leave with a daily home practice and a completely different relationship with their body.

The classes at Namaste Yoga Farm rotate between Hatha Yoga and Sivananda Yoga in the morning (8:00–9:30 AM) and Hatha or Yin Yoga in the afternoon (4:00–5:30 PM). These are classical styles — methodical, breath-focused, and built around alignment rather than speed. They are the ideal foundation for beginners and also deeply challenging for experienced practitioners who've only ever done faster styles.

All mats and props are provided. There's nothing to bring except willingness.

What to expect physically: the first two to three days will produce real soreness, especially in the hips, hamstrings, and lower back. By days four and five, most beginners notice a significant shift — both in how the body moves and in mental clarity. By the end of a week, the practice begins to feel like something you want to continue rather than something you're enduring.

Rates start from €80 per unit per night (treehouses); Garden View Rooms start from €90 and cottages and Mountain View Rooms from €100 per unit per night. We confirm the exact price for your dates. Whether breakfast is included depends on your rate; during the yoga season from 1 November to 31 March, yoga is complimentary for direct bookings: one yoga class a day per guest, in the morning or afternoon, depending on availability and prior arrangement. Please ask us before booking.

FAQ

What if I'm not flexible? Flexibility is a result of yoga practice, not a prerequisite for it. A good teacher will always offer modifications. At Namaste Yoga Farm, the teaching adapts to the student, not the other way around.

How many hours of yoga per day? One 90-minute class a day per guest, in the morning or afternoon, depending on availability and prior arrangement. Please ask us before booking. There's also occasional Yoga Nidra (guided deep relaxation) at around 6:00 PM.

Can I drop into classes without staying at the retreat? Yes. Drop-in classes are available at ₹800 per class, with a 10-class pass available at a 10% discount. Mats and props are provided.

Do I need to confirm yoga participation when booking? Yes — please confirm when booking because space on the open-air shala is limited. If a yoga group is in residence, class times may vary slightly.

Good to know: From 1 November through 31 March, yoga is complimentary for guests who book directly – one class a day per guest, depending on space and prior arrangement. Booking through a platform? Please ask us first – complimentary yoga is only included if we have confirmed it before you book. Outside this period, Namaste Yoga Farm operates primarily as peaceful holiday accommodation without scheduled complimentary yoga classes. Guests do not need to practise yoga to stay.
